The Analgesic Effect of Seirin Pyonex Needles Combined with Auricular Pressure Beans in HIFU Ablation of Uterine Fibroids

Objective: The purpose of this study was to observe the analgesic effect of Seirin Pyonex needles combined with auricular pressure beans during high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment of uterine fibroids (UF). Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 103 patients with UF who received HIFU treatment from Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from April 2022 to August 2023. According to the patients’ wishes, 42 patients chose the Seirin Pyonex needles combined with the auricular pressure bean group, 32 patients chose the analgesic group, and 29 patients chose the control group. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores and adverse reactions were recorded 30 min after the start of treatment, at the end of treatment, and 24 h after treatment. Results: Compared with the control group (6.07 ± 1.56), the VAS scores of the Seirin Pyonex needle combined with the auricular pressure bean group (4.67 ± 1.53) and the analgesic group (3.75 ± 1.05) were significantly decreased ( p < 0.05) after 30 min treatment. At the end of the treatment, the VAS score of the Seirin Pyonex needles combined with the auricular pressure bean group (3.48 ± 1.19) was lower ( p < 0.05) than that of the control group (5.21 ± 1.26). Compared with the Seirin Pyonex needles combined with auricular pressure bean group (0.81 ± 0.77), the VAS scores of the analgesic group (1.75 ± 0.95) and the control group (1.93 ± 0.96) significantly increased ( p < 0.05) post 24 h treatment. Conclusion: Seirin Pyonex needles and auricular pressure beans are an effective and easy-to-use technique to reduce pain during HIFU treatment without side effects.
