Adrenal zona glomerulosa (ZG) cells
Reduced extracellular osmolality (hypotonicity)
Aldosterone secretion/production, chloride outflow, depolarization, and voltage-dependent calcium influxsurrogate
ClC-2 channels mediate hypotonicity-induced aldosterone production in adrenal zona glomerulosa cells via chloride outflow and subsequent depolarization.
ClC-2 plays a role in the ZG's response to reduced extracellular osmolality through chloride outflow, which likely causes depolarization, voltage-dependent calcium influx, and aldosterone production. These data advance our understanding of regulators of aldosterone production.
