The study presents research focused on investigating the running characteristics of a selected rail vehicle based on its original concept through a series of simulation calculations. The research is grounded in analyses of traction/brake work, running resistances, speeds, and the applicability of the traction characteristics, considering the energy parameters of the vehicle. The approaches and methodology are described in detail, including the development of the computational model, its components and their interrelationships. This model enables the simulation of vehicle control, accounting for the mechanical system of the vehicle and track parameters. The analyses were carried out for selected track sections with specific characteristics, for which parameter data were obtained through experimental measurements in an earlier stage of the research. The insights gained from the investigation of energy ratios provide a crucial foundation for the subsequent design of alternative rail vehicle propulsion system concepts.
