We developed a compact MgH₂ hydrolysis reactor with active thermal management for on-demand hydrogen generation in PEMFC systems. This system features: Adjustable H₂ production (0-2.0 L/min) through controlled feeding of an MgH₂-water slurry into acetic acid; A helical cooling tube design that maintains reactor temperatures below 80°C during operation; 55% MgH₂ utilization efficiency. When coupled to an air-cooled fuel cell stack, the system demonstrated stable operation for over 10 minutes at 213 W, achieving 99% of the power output obtained with H₂ cylinder. This work presents a practical, thermally regulated alternative to high-pressure tanks, with material efficiency metrics that are particularly valuable for mobile applications. • Provide stable and adjustable H 2 gas to fuel cell stack; • MgH 2 hydrolysis reaction temperature is controllable; • Hydrogen generator work condition is optimized; • Total MgH 2 utilization efficiency is calculated;
