An Evaluation of the Doctor of Medicine Program (Modified 2009), Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University

Introduction: An evaluation of Doctor of Medicine program (modified 2009), Thammasat university is an essential component of continuous renewal of the program. The study aimed to evaluate the program appropriateness in four areas: context, input, process and output. Method: The study was evaluation research conducted during October 2015 to April 2016. The context of program was evaluated by two medical educators using all relevant curriculum documents. Other three areas were answered by the current clinical-year students, teachers who involved in the program and the first batch of graduate from this program by using online and paper questionnaire. The criteria for appropriate was the mean of item ³ 3.50. The authors analyzed the data using descriptive statistics. Result: Ninety-one percent of current students, twenty-three percent of teachers and seventy-nine percent of the first batch graduate responded. The context of program was appropriate both philosophy and objectives and was outcome- based curriculum. For input; the structure, content, teachers, students and learning resources were appropriate but minor concerns on integration and a large number of credits were noted. Medical ethics, patient safety, rational use of drugs and teacher workload were inappropriate. For process; providing learning experiences and assessment were appropriate but attitude assessment and student feedback should be improved. Finally, the output was very satisfied as evident by the percentage of graduates who acquired the medical license. Discussion and Conclusion: Doctor of Medicine program (modified 2009) was appropriate according to the evaluation in four areas and some opportunities for improvement were identified. บทคัดย่อ บทนำ: การประเมินหลักสูตรแพทยศาสตรบัณฑิต (หลักสูตรปรับปรุง พ.ศ.๒๕๕๒) ของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินความเหมาะสมของหลักสูตรใน ๔ ด้าน ได้แก่ ด้านบริบท ด้านปัจจัยนำเข้า ด้านกระบวนการ และด้านผลผลิต วิธีการศึกษา: เป็นการวิจัยเชิงประเมิน เก็บข้อมูลตั้งแต่เดือน ตุลาคม ๒๕๕๘ - เมษายน ๒๕๕๙ ประชากรเป้าหมาย ประกอบด้วย ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ ๒ คน นักศึกษา ๕๒๐ คน อาจารย์ผู้สอน ๗๖๗ คน และบัณฑิต ๑๗๔ คน เก็บข้อมูลจากการทบทวนเอกสารและการใช้แบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเอกสารจากการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา แบบสอบถามจากการวิเคราะห์ค่าเฉลี่ย เกณฑ์ในการประเมิน พิจารณาจากความเห็นของผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิว่าเหมาะสมหรือควรปรับปรุง แบบสอบถามพิจารณาจากค่าเฉลี่ยความคิดเห็นต่อความเหมาะสมของหลักสูตร หากมากกว่าหรือเท่ากับ ๓.๕๐ แสดงว่าประเด็นนั้นมีความเหมาะสม ผลการศึกษา: มีผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม แบ่งเป็น นักศึกษาร้อยละ ๙๑ อาจารย์ร้อยละ ๒๓ และบัณฑิตร้อยละ ๗๙ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ๑) ด้านบริบทมีความเหมาะสมและเป็นการศึกษาที่มุ่งผลลัพท์ ๒) ด้านปัจจัยนำเข้ามีความเหมาะสม แต่ต้องปรับปรุง ในเรื่องจำนวนหน่วยกิต การบูรณาการเนื้อหา การสอนเกี่ยวกับการวิจัย เวชจริยศาสตร์ ความปลอดภัยของผู้ป่วย การใช้ยาอย่างสมเหตุผล และภาระงานของอาจารย์ ๓) ด้านกระบวนการมีความเหมาะสม แต่ต้องปรับปรุงในเรื่องการวัดและประเมินผลด้านเจตคติ พฤติกรรม และการให้ข้อเสนอแนะของอาจารย์ต่อนักศึกษา ๔) ด้านผลผลิตมีความเหมาะสม เนื่องจากผู้สำเร็จการศึกษาตามระยะเวลามีอัตราสูงและทุกคนได้รับใบประกอบวิชาชีพเวชกรรม วิจารณ์และสรุปผลการศึกษา: หลักสูตรแพทยศาสตรบัณฑิต (หลักสูตรปรับปรุง พ.ศ.๒๕๕๒) คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ในภาพรวมมีความเหมาะสมในทุกด้าน แต่ยังมีบางประเด็นที่ควรนำผลการประเมินไปปรับปรุงหลักสูตรใหม่ให้ดียิ่งขึ้น
