The article discusses the theoretical and practical aspects of increasing the economic efficiency of freshwater aquaculture development, which will contribute to saturating the country's domestic market and ensuring food security. The current state of the industry has been analyzed, and key factors limiting its profitability have been identified. Priority areas for development have been substantiated, including technological modernization, optimization of feed production, introduction of breeding and genetic innovations, and improvement of government support mechanisms. A comprehensive approach to production intensification as a key driver of competitiveness has been proposed.
