Archaeological recording was undertaken by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) at the request of the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club (the Client) at the Boat Park, Weir Quay, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, West Devon, Devon. The work was a Conditioned requirement of planning permission for the construction of an extension to an existing building. The footprint (5×11m) of the extension had already been reduced to formation level when the adjacent structure was built. The exposed section and base of the area was therefore recorded. This work was carried out by B. Morris on the 2nd of September 2025, in line with the agreed Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI; Boyd 2025). A sequence of probably natural colluvial deposits were observed in section. No archaeological features or deposits were observed, and no finds were recovered.
Michael Paine (2025) studied this question.
