Key Points

  • To evaluate the role of digital rectal examination in the context of advanced imaging techniques for prostate cancer diagnosis.
  • Comparison of DRE findings with mpMRI and PSMA PET/CT results.
  • Evaluated the clinical implications of DRE in identifying high-risk prostate cancer.
  • Analysis of DRE as a risk stratification tool rather than a primary screening method.
  • DRE remains a valuable tool for identifying advanced prostate cancer.
  • When combined with mpMRI and PSMA PET/CT, DRE enhances clinical assessment and risk stratification.
  • Continued use of DRE is supported in the modern diagnostic workflow for prostate cancer.

Abstract

Despite the rise of advanced imaging techniques, DRE remains a valuable adjunctive tool in identifying high-risk and advanced PCa. When interpreted alongside mpMRI and PSMA PET/CT findings, DRE provides additional clinical insight, supporting its continued role in risk stratification rather than screening in the modern diagnostic workflow.
