Key Points

  • The research aims to evaluate the social implications of a bio-based supercapacitor developed in the EMPHASIS project.
  • Conducted a social life cycle assessment (SLCA) of the bio-based supercapacitor.
  • Analyzed the use of renewable resources in electrodes and bioelectrolytes.
  • Identified social risks during raw material extraction and end-of-life phases.
  • Reduced social impacts by avoiding critical raw materials and toxic substances.
  • Early SLCA identified significant social risks for workers in specific lifecycle stages.
