Key Points

  • This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of conservative versus surgical treatments for pain alleviation in anterior disc displacement without reduction.
  • Conducted a comparative review of conservative and surgical treatments for anterior disc displacement.
  • Analyzed efficacy outcomes related to pain relief from both treatment modalities.
  • Proposed a standardized treatment model based on reviewed evidence.
  • Conservative and surgical treatments showed comparable efficacy for pain relief.
  • Arthrocentesis and combination therapies yielded promising results for pain management.
  • Suggests new directions for further research in innovative treatment strategies.

Abstract

Conservative and surgical treatments are comparable in their efficacy for pain relief in ADDwoR. Based on these findings, a standardised treatment model is proposed to improve pain management. The promising results of arthrocentesis and combination therapies highlight important directions for future research and the development of innovative treatment strategies.
