On the adaptation and flexibility of cognitive control

SSShinya SaitoHTHiroyuki TsubomiKYKaichi Yanaoka

Key Points

  • The aim is to explore how cognitive control, particularly in executive function and working memory, adapts flexibly to different contexts.
  • Conference symposium featuring multiple speakers presenting recent research findings.
  • Discussion on cognitive control and its adaptability through learned strategies.
  • Examination of training effects and contextual influences on executive function performance.
  • Demonstrated that executive function and working memory can change dynamically based on environmental context.
  • Highlighted limited transfer effects from traditional training methods, indicating a need for new approaches.
  • Showed that cognitive strategies deployed in different situations significantly alter cognitive performance.
