Abstract Job satisfaction and staff retention in aged care settings are a global challenge, while there is an equally increasing demand for quality-of-care services for the ageing population. This paper reviews existing literature and knowledge from diverse locations worldwide, bringing them together to deliver insights on how these challenges can be minimised by adopting transformational leadership behaviours. This paper presents a systematic review of 12 peer-reviewed papers from 2010 to 2025, using a PRISMA flow chart, providing a comprehensive understanding of the impact of transformational leadership on improving job satisfaction among aged care employees and enhancing their retention from a global perspective.
