Abstract Trataka is a well-known yogic kriya among the six Shatkarmas and is also practiced as a meditative technique. It involves steady gazing at a fixed object, point, or candle flame without blinking. The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of Trataka practice on concentration levels among university male students. Fifty male university students aged between 18 and 22 years were randomly selected from Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), Wardha. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group (N = 25) and a control group (N = 25). The experimental group underwent Trataka practice for 20 minutes daily for a period of six weeks, whereas the control group did not participate in any Trataka practice. Concentration levels were assessed using the Concentration Grid Test before and after the intervention. The collected data were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Student’s t-test at the 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in concentration levels in the experimental group compared to the control group. The findings suggest that Trataka practice significantly enhances concentration among university students and may be considered an effective, simple, and non-pharmacological method for improving cognitive functioning in educational settings.
