Healthy work environments in schools of nursing are important to support faculty recruitment, retention, and optimal student learning outcomes. The American Association of Critical Care Nurses created an assessment tool (Healthy Work Environment Assessment Tool HWEAT 1.0) that establishes standards to assess the health of the work environment in clinical settings. The purpose of this study was to pilot a modified version of the HWEAT 1.0 in a school of nursing. Results demonstrated an overall healthy work environment. Authentic leadership was rated highest; appropriate staffing and self-care were rated lowest.
