Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper investigates the periodic event‐triggered output feedback stabilization of strict‐feedback inherently nonlinear systems whose linearization at the origin is neither controllable nor observable. To estimate the unmeasurable states, a reduced‐order discrete‐time observer based on the sampled output data is deliberately constructed. Combining the advantages of event‐triggered control and sampling control, a periodic event‐triggered strategy, which determines a sampling period for discrete‐time observer and presents a discrete event‐triggered mechanism that determines the transmission of estimates of unmeasurable states and updates the controller, is proposed. Stability analysis of the closed‐loop nonlinear systems is completed based on the homogeneous domination theory. The approach proposed in this paper significantly reduces the communication and computation burden, avoids the unnecessary wear and tear of the actuator, and reduces the conservation on the energy function. At last, simulations demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
