Abstract: Physiological biology explains the functional mechanisms of living organisms at cellular, organ, and system levels. Breathing is a vital biological process that directly influences oxygen transport, neural regulation, metabolism, and homeostasis. Pranayama, a yogic breathing technique, provides a scientific approach to regulating respiratory patterns and thereby influencing physiological balance. The present paper explores the relationship between pranayama and physiological biology with reference to respiratory physiology, neurobiology, cardiovascular regulation, endocrine balance, and cellular metabolism. Scientific evidence suggests that pranayama enhances oxygen utilization, stabilizes autonomic nervous system activity, regulates hormonal secretion, and improves metabolic efficiency.
