Key Points

  • This research aims to understand the impact of comorbid compulsive sexual behavior on treatment outcomes in cocaine use disorder.
  • Analysis of treatment outcomes following inpatient detoxification for cocaine use disorder patients.
  • Screening for compulsive sexual behavior and executive refunction deficits at treatment entry.
  • Comorbid compulsive sexual behavior is linked to poorer treatment outcomes post-detoxification.
  • Screening may help identify patients at risk of developing compulsive sexual behavior, enhancing overall treatment effectiveness.

Abstract

These findings suggest that comorbid CUD and probable CSB may lead to poorer treatment outcomes after inpatient detoxification. Screening for CSB and ER deficits at treatment entry may prevent the development of CSB, limiting the likelihood of poor outcomes and enhancing the psychotherapeutic management of CUD.
