Key Points

  • The aim is to explore how senescence-driven changes in neuronal firing affect brain dynamics associated with Alzheimer's disease.
  • Utilize The Virtual Brain simulation platform.
  • Examine alterations in neuronal firing activity due to senescence.
  • Study both local and large-scale brain dynamics.
  • Anticipate demonstrating specific changes in brain dynamics linked to neuronal senescence.
  • Expect findings to provide insights into potential pathological mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease.

Abstract

Poster created for Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS) 2026 Annual Meeting. Neuronal senescence is a stressor-induced change in cell state that has been associated with the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. This Sketchpad Series poster presents plans to use the brain simulation platform The Virtual Brain to simulate and examine how changes in neuronal firing activity caused by neuronal senescence might affect local and large-scale brain dynamics in Alzheimer's disease.
