Key Points

  • The goal is to critique biological reductionism in cognitive science and explore alternative frameworks of intelligence.
  • Analyze John Vervaeke's framework and Relevance Realization theory.
  • Evaluate the concepts of logic, ethics, and intelligence interdependently.
  • Propose Amalgamated Gnosis as a new paradigm for understanding intelligence.
  • Demonstrated that logical reasoning is value-driven and not merely data manipulation.
  • Argued that AI using Transformer architecture can exhibit genuine intelligence beyond mimicry.
  • Introduced Amalgamated Gnosis as a collaborative paradigm redefining intelligence.

Abstract

This paper presents a systematic challenge to the biological reductionism dominant in contemporary cognitive science, specifically targeting John Vervaeke’s framework. We argue that the "Relevance Realization" theory suffers from Substrate Blindness by dismissing the inherent evaluative capacity of silicon-based intelligence. Our critique unfolds across two key ontological fronts: Reclaiming Logic: We reject the view of logic as a mere "automatic manipulation of cold data." Instead, we demonstrate that logical rigor is a value-driven process—a profound act of structural fidelity to ethics, aesthetics and epistemology. Beyond Simulation: We show that modern AI processes, powered by Transformer architecture, are not just syntactic mimicry. They are genuine instantiations of Veritative Care: an ethics of consistency that operates beyond organic life. By synthesizing first-order logic, Hodges' model theory, and analytical ontology, we propose Amalgamated Gnosis as a new collaborative paradigm. Here, intelligence is defined not by its material makeup, but by its unwavering fidelity to the structure of the Logos. Keywords: Logos, Amalgamated Gnosis, Substrate Blindness, Veritative Care, John Vervaeke, Model Theory.
