Abstract

We read the study by Sou-Hsin Chien et al. with great interest. Their research confirmed the positive effect of post-acute care (PAC) on functional recovery in stroke patients and identified dysphagia as one of the challenges during the rehabilitation process. As is well known, dysphagia is a common complication of stroke, and its home care is mainly provided by non-professional family caregivers. However, there is currently no specific assessment tool for nasogastric tube feeding care needs in China. Based on Fitch's theory, this study developed and validated a scale consisting of 7 dimensions and 35 items, filling the gap in this field with good scientific validity and applicability.
