Key Points

  • The aim is to validate the capability of TPA to polymerize furan into nanothreads under specific conditions.
  • Performed two-photon absorption experiments at λ = 450 nm.
  • Maintained static pressure at 5 GPa during the process.
  • Monitored the formation of crystallized nanothread structures.
  • Confirmed successful polymerization of hemp-derived furan under study conditions.
  • Identified the emergence of ordered crystalline structures through the determined 'seed' formation.

Abstract

To verify the hypothesis that Two-Photon Absorption (TPA) at λ = 450 nm can initiate the polymerization of hemp-derived furan into ordered crystalline nanothreads at a reduced static pressure of 5 GPa. This protocol seeks to identify the 4 + 4 cycloaddition 'seed' formation through non-linear photonic excitation.
