"Legal and International Protection for Children During Armed Conflicts: Iraq as a Model."

The phenomenon of child recruitment has been increasing with the escalation of armed conflicts. After the end of the Cold War, large quantities of weapon stockpiles became available, leading to a flourishing arms trade that resulted in an increase in the number of children involved in armed conflicts. Additionally, the rise in conflicts has been significantly influenced by the emergence of a new international order and globalization, along with its implications on the evolution of conflict, the escalation of armed violence, and internal disputes due to differing stances among conflicting parties. These dynamics have led to heightened extremism and intolerance, as witnessed in several countries across various Arab regions, negatively impacting children. This impact manifests either in the loss of numerous children's lives due to these conflicts or in the exacerbation of child recruitment by rebel groups, exploiting them and involving them in conflicts without adherence to international humanitarian law.
