On October 13, 2025, Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt were awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for having explained innovation-driven economic growth. This article focuses on the relationship among creative destruction, technological progress and sustained economic growth, and summarizes the main academic contributions to creative destruction, useful knowledge and growth culture of three scholars. Finally, this article summarizes the implications for China's scientific and technological innovation from the aspects of building a favorable institutional environment for innovation, optimizing the innovation market structure and competitive environment, increasing the accumulation and transformation of useful knowledge, and constructing a comprehensive science communication system.
