This study examines sustainable business models in Tanzania's tourism industry, focusing on identifying effective strategies for promoting environmental and social sustainability. A mixed methods approach was employed, combining both qualitative interviews with key stakeholders in the tourism industry and quantitative analysis of business performance metrics over a two-year period (). Sustainable practices were notably implemented by approximately 60% of surveyed businesses, focusing on reducing plastic waste and increasing community participation in tourism activities. However, there was limited use of renewable energy sources. While significant progress has been made towards sustainability, further investment is required to enhance the adoption of green technologies and improve resource efficiency. Encouragement should be given to businesses for their current sustainable efforts, while policy measures are needed to incentivize greater use of renewable energy sources in tourism operations.
