This article analyzes the new national project Family and various approaches to the states demographic and social policies. Issues of demographic development are considered in line with the national goals for 2036. Promoting a focus on large families at the institutional level presupposes changes in social and employment policies. The social role of large and multi-generational families and the reasons for their increasing share are examined. A comparative analysis of mortgages for young families in Russia and the United States is conducted, demonstrating the need to reduce interest rates in our country. The need for state protection of the well-being of single-parent families with more than 9 million children is substantiated. It is concluded that immigration must be taken into account in social policy to support large and multi-generational families. It is argued that the primary focus of state family policy should be on young women aged 20-29.
