Aiming at the extreme working conditions such as icebergs and ice ridges that polar navigation ships may encounter, and the scenario where the bulbous bow structure may collapse and file under extreme loads, this paper takes the bulbous bow structure of container ships as the research object. Based on the principles of Cauchy energy similarity, geometric similarity, etc., the design of a scaled-down model for the bulbous bow structure is carried out. A large-volume ice preparation technology is formed, and a model test for simulating the structural collapse and damage during the impact of the bulbous bow structure on large-volume ice is competed. The collapse failure mode of the bulbous bow structure when impacting ice is obtained, and a test and measurement technology for the structural collapse process is established. The corresponding results can provide data support for verifying digital simulation analysis methods, optimizing the design of bulbous bow structures for polar navigation ships, etc.
