Effective Learning Theme on the use of Electric Motor in Introductory Class

One of the themes in the introductory course for first-year mechanical engineering students, "Basic Engineering Experiments," is "Measuring motor output characteristics and efficiency." In order to give students a concrete image of how motors are used and to spark their interest, we aim to make learning more effective by incorporating elements of electric vehicle competitions into the class using simulation of an actual competition. In addition to the motor characteristics covered in class, students set the power transmission system, aerodynamic characteristics determined by the vehicle shape, and experience racing through simulation. This aims to arouse interest not only in motors, but in the entire field of mechanical engineering. The developed simulation was tried in the class to confirm its learning efficiency.
