The axis of value provision is shifting toward the transformation of society and daily life. At its core lies a narrative story that illustrates a chain of interactions between humans and artifacts, and the creation of innovative product and service concepts that facilitate such a process. This study proposes a framework called the Story Diagram (SD) for comprehensively describing such narrative stories. The SD serves as a mechanism that begins with a value graph and leads to the functional structure of individual products and services. In this paper, we focus on music listening devices and validate the applicability of the SD by tracing the transformation of these devices retrospectively.
