Recently, ion transport phenomena in micro- and nanoscale are applied to various technological applications, such as electroosmotic pumps, single particle analysis, biomolecule sequencing. In a previous study, we also conducted single particle detection and ion concentration analysis, where ionic current responses included important information. Especially, asymmetric current–voltage characteristics were obtained when the ionic current was against the diffusion of ions in nanochannels that had ion selectivity. However, the details of phenomena have not yet been clarified. In this study, we propose a novel method for ion identification based on electrodiffusioosmosis. From a theoretical point of view, it is suggested that ion species are uniquely identified by optimizing the components of ionic currents, such as electrophoresis, diffusion, and electroosmotic flows. Herein, we also conduct experiments to achieve the theoretical prediction.
