Key Points

  • The aim is to replicate the bacterial chemotaxis behavior of E. coli using a self-propelled particle model.
  • Conducted experiments with small self-propelled particles mimicking bacteria
  • Developed a simple random walk model for numerical calculations
  • Compared results from experiments with findings from numerical simulations
  • Experimental behavior of particles aligned well with predicted patterns from the random walk model
  • Successful demonstration of how self-propelled particles can mimic chemotactic movement
