Ongoing research aims to develop compressors for next-generation low-GWP refrigerants. In this project, miniaturization and light weight design are also required for compressors. To successfully achieve this development, the use of metal matrix composites (MMC) is being considered as compressor components, where model experiments are in progress to measure the friction force when MMCs are used as structural elements. In this paper, the structure and mechanism of the experimental apparatus are described, which focused on the friction between the vane and the cylinder groove in the rotary compressors.
