Key Points

  • The research aims to investigate the reaction of technetium(I) tricarbonyl complexes with chloride ions and identify newly formed structures.
  • Prolonged interaction of [Тс(hfa)(CO)] with chloride ions in the presence of triphenylphosphine or pyridine.
  • Determination of the crystal and molecular structures of the resulting complexes.
  • Comparison of the formed stereoisomers, fac- and mer- structures.
  • Formation of fac- and mer-[ТсCl(CO)(РРh)] and fac-[ТсCl(CO)(py)] complexes.
  • First structural confirmation of a facial structure in technetium(I) tricarbonyl bis(triphenylphosphine) complexes.

Abstract

In the course of prolonged interaction in the system consisting of Тс(hfa)(СО) (hfa is the anion of 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetone), triphenylphosphine (РРh) or pyridine (py), and CCl, the hfa anion is gradually displaced by the chloride ion with the formation of the complexes fac- and mer-ТсСl(СО)(РРh) and fac-ТсСl(СО)(py). The crystal and molecular structures of the complexes were determined. The complex fac ТсСl(СО)(РРh) is the first structurally confirmed example of technetium(I) tricarbonyl bis(triphenylphosphine) complexes of facial structure.
