Key Points

  • This research aims to explore how electromagnetic forces affect the surface deformation of a liquid In-Ga-Sn metal system.
  • Investigated deformation under electromagnetic forces
  • Conducted experiments with hemispherical electrodes
  • Calculated current values for liquid discharge based on electrode diameter
  • Identified the current threshold for liquid metal detachment
  • Measured surface deformation correlated with electrode size
  • Presented both experimental and calculated current values

Abstract

A system with a eutectic In-Ga-Sn alloy between hemispherical electrodes is considered. The deformation of the surface of a liquid conductor under the action of an electromagnetic force is investigated. Experimental and calculated values of the current at which the liquid is torn off and a discharge occurs are presented depending on the diameter of the small electrode.
