Abstract

ABSTRACT Milky pleural effusion usually suggests chylothorax. We report a case of massive empyema caused by Streptococcus viridans presenting with milky pleural fluid. Biochemical and microbiological analyses were essential to establish the diagnosis and distinguish empyema from chylothorax.
