In this work, we studied the electric microfield distribution in a plasma composed of particles, where the ions interact via the Debye-screened potential and via the Ebeling-screened potential, which is based on the Kelbg potential at r=0 (zero distance). The study was carried out under conditions of a weak-coupling parameter (Γ≤1). The ratio η=λT/ri, which corresponds to the ratio between the de Broglie thermal wavelength and the average distance between two ions, has been used to quantify short-range quantum effects (η1). The electric microfield distributions were calculated numerically, and the results of the comparison between the two potentials were analyzed. Finally, our results obtained with respect to the electric microfield distributions were applied and tested in order to model Ly α and Ly β shapes. These results encourage further improvement of electric microfield distribution models to include higher coupling corrections.
