This paper investigates the gendered impacts of climate change among Fairtrade-certified farmers, using the Uganda Organic Coffee Farmers' Association as a case study. The study found that FI and producer organizations must strengthen two activities in particular to enhance the resilience of the members of the producer organization. First, the producer organization must take some of the profits from the sales of coffee and save it for a rainy day to protect the livelihoods of its members. Second, the producer organization should make sure that not only are there more female farmers as representatives of the producer organization but also that their voices are heard and their opinions respected during decision-making processes. In that way, the non-neutral aspects of a crisis such as floods and landslides, and solutions to this problem can be well articulated.
