ABSTRACT This paper identifies when a process of belief revision qualifies as theoretical reasoning. Starting from the idea that reasoning should be understood via its epistemological role, it presents a novel account whereby what turns a process of belief revision into reasoning is how it is endorsed . This enables us to solve many of the central difficulties connected to creating a theory of reasoning, as well as to account for how different types of theoretical reasoning are all instances of reasoning.
