This paper is for English language teachers wanting to author digital educational materials. It seeks to explain the differences between traditional printed publications and digital materials in terms of the advantages that the latter provide, while also looking at the constraints that technology places on the author. The pros and cons of several forms of digital media are also outlined in an effort to identify the best format currently available. The Kotobee digital authoring and distribution platform is then examined and suggestions are made for approaching the task of digital materials design effectively.
