Laser technology has revolutionized the field of dentistry, with its diverse applications for both therapeutic and diagnostic treatments. The objective of this short communication is to evaluate the advancements, benefits, and challenges associated with the use of lasers in modern dental clinics. Since the 1990s, laser technology has enabled faster healing, reduced pain, and increased accuracy, thereby enhancing the outcomes of various dental treatments, including soft and hard tissue surgeries, periodontal care, tooth whitening, and cavity preparations. Even if they offer noninvasive alternatives with less need for anesthesia, laser technologies face challenges such as high equipment expenses, the requirement for specialized training, and a lack of standardization across various dental clinics. The primary focus of this review is the different treatment options that utilize multiple lasers along with their clinical applications. Despite of all the benefits, concerns pertaining long-term treatment outcomes, high initial cost and the scarcity of skilled experts. Although laser technology is a great and practical approach in dentistry, this short communication demonstrates that its general acceptance depends on overcoming these challenges and undertaking more thorough research to produce clear, evidence-based criteria for its implementation.
