Abstract

Abstract Rotator cuff repairs continue to have variable outcomes despite advances in techniques. While findings on magnetic resonance imaging, such as tendon tear size and Goutallier staging for fatty infiltration, are often used to predict reparability and outcomes, another important factor is the tension placed on the rotator cuff tendon during repair. Predicting which rotator cuff tendons are repairable under low tension may help surgeons better identify patients who are appropriate candidates for repair. Shear weave elastography is a potential tool that can be used to predict the tension required for repair.
