Ultimate Strength of Column – Eccentric Beam Exterior Joints for Mixed Structures Composed of Reinforced Concrete Columns and Steel Beams

RARyouta AOKIMSManato SOIDANBNozomu Baba

Key Points

  • The aim is to evaluate the ultimate strength of eccentric column-beam joints in mixed structures with reinforced concrete and steel elements.
  • Investigated the connection of steel beams to reinforced concrete columns.
  • Analyzed the effect of eccentricity on joint strength.
  • Focus on structural integrity of mixed systems.
  • Identified that eccentricity significantly influences the ultimate strength of joints.
  • Estimated changes in joint performance based on beam eccentricity.

Abstract

A reliable evaluation method has not yet been established for the ultimate strength of column-beam joints in mixed structures composed of RC columns and steel beams where the steel beam is connected eccentrically to the RC column core. This study investigated the effect of eccentricity in S-beams on the ultimate strength of eccentric joints.
