The study was carried out to examine the impact of professional skills on job performance among librarians in University of Uyo., Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consisted of 119 librarians. The entire population of 119 librarians was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a self-developed questionnaire entitled “Librarians’ Professional Skills and Job Performance Questionnaire (LPSJPQ). The instrument was face validated by three experts. A reliability coefficient of 0.89 for the instrument was obtained for the instrument using Cronbach’s alpha reliability statistics. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while dependents t-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Finding showed significant influence of communication skills on job performance among librarians in University of Uyo; there is significant of influence of management skills on job performance among librarians in University of Uyo; Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that there is influence of professional skills on job performance of librarians in University of Uyo. It was recommended among others that, university management should organize periodic training and workshops to improve librarians’ oral, written, and digital communication skills, especially in handling diverse users.
