Genital dermatology includes a wide range of inflammatory, infectious, pigmentary and neoplastic disorders affecting uniquely sensitive mucocutaneous sites. The genital skin’s distinct structural, physiological and microbiological features increase susceptibility to irritation, infection and barrier dysfunction. Dermocosmetics, clinically tested formulations with active ingredients, serve as valuable adjuncts or alternatives to medical therapy by supporting barrier restoration, hydration, anti-inflammatory action and microbiome balance.Their role is relevant in chronic inflammatory dermatoses, post-procedural care and conditions. Optimal genital dermocosmetics must be well-tolerated, pH-balanced and microbiome-compatible, with formulations tailored to anatomical site and patient needs.
