This article explores the conceptual ideas of autonomism developed by a number of Latin American scholars, representing a unique vector of interdisciplinary divergence in dependency theory in the political and legal spheres and in international relations. The work consistently examines the relevant ideas of E. Jaguaribe (Brazil), J.G. Puig (Argentina), L. Tomassini (Chile), concerning both issues of international interaction between various states in general and the specific problems of Latin American autonomism. From a theoretical perspective, the author analyzes the essence and types of autonomism, noting its relationship with other concepts of dependency theory. In a practical context, the study highlights the importance of autonomist ideas within the framework of the BRICS initiatives and the development of interstate cooperation along the «South-South» line.
