ABSTRACT The integration of “load bearing ‐ deicing” is of great significance for safe use of carbon fiber composites in ice environment. Here, an investigation on the design, deicing performance and mechanical properties of super hybrid composites composed of stainless steel ultra‐thin strip and carbon fiber reinforced epoxy resin was carried out. It showed that under 0.26 W/cm 2 power density, the multi‐channel parallel circuit sample's surface temperature reached 57°C and the distribution was uniform. In more than 50 cycles test, it maintained the stability of temperature rise characteristics. The rapid melting and stripping of the ice layer on the material surface were successfully realized in application. Failure mechanism analysis showed that load, temperature, and electrothermal effects produced a complex three‐dimensional stress field, which had an important impact on the interface bonding, internal thermal mismatch stress and mechanical properties of component materials. This improved the strength and toughness by 8.52% and 19.02% compared with pure carbon fiber material in the deicing process. Integrated design of “load bearing—deicing” is important to ensure uniform heating, lightweight, maintaining aerodynamic performance and safe service, providing new ideas for development of materials in fields of wind power generation and civil aircraft in extreme environments.
