SDR: Systems of Representation, taught at the School of Architecture La Salle (1999–2023), explored representation as a conceptual system mediating between subject and reality through six thematic domains: text, figure, object, image, space, and light. This publication corresponds to the 2016–2017 academic year, and includes two of these topics: text and figure. The cross-disciplinary course integrated theoretical inquiry with practical experimentation, combining digital tools and traditional media to address key architectural concepts such as form, space, perception, critical theory and visual communication. Emphasizing the relationship between idea and representation, it developed students’ ability to think, create, and communicate architectural ideas while selecting appropriate media for their expression. A custom-designed online environment supported its evolving pedagogy over two decades, fostering a collaborative, networked learning process based on the sharing, transformation, and interconnection of student work.
