In this study, we have synthesised thin films of pure and Ni-doped La 2 SrFe 2 TiO 9 perovskite by using the Pulsed laser deposition technique on LaAlO 3 substrates. The structural, morphological, magnetic, optical, and elemental compositions of the prepared films were extensively studied. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy show that the grown films are single-phase and exhibit the orthorhombic structure of La 2 SrFe 2 TiO 9 . X-ray Photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) study shows that iron exists in the Fe 3 + /Fe 2+ ionic state in the film. Surface morphology studies using atomic force microscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscopy reveal highly uniform, dense films with low surface roughness. Optical studies indicate that the films exhibit semiconductor behaviour. Further, magnetic studies of the films studied at different temperatures show ferromagnetic and paramagnetic behaviour. This thin-film study will be a valuable resource for the design of materials for various applications.
