This paper describes a numerical framework for modeling the propagation of elastic waves in anisotropic media. Spatial discretization is performed using the finite element method, whereas temporal integration is carried out by means of the Newmark scheme. The mathematical model and the developed numerical procedures are employed to simulate the dynamic response of two structures of different geometry and rheology. The computations yield detailed spatio-temporal distributions of the displacements and their temporal derivatives fields and allows to study elastic waves in the structures of complex geometries.
