Over 5000 years to the Harappa civilization,Indian Weaving and Hand Woven Textiles wererenowned globally while Mughal period making agolden age of luxury weaving. In traditional systemof Indian weaving vertical and horizontal threadswere beautifully knit together for making of fineand beautiful fabric. It involved intricatelyinterfacing cotton, silk, and wool yarn on traditionallooms to create textiles .It ranged from fine muslinto rich, zari-bordered fabrics etc. There were manytechniques of Indian weaving like Jamdani, Ikat,Banarasi, Kanchipuram ,Khadi etc.Jamdani was adelicate ,fine muslin textile from Bengal withintricate,hand-inserted motifs. Ikat was a complexresist-dye technique (e.g. Patola in Gujrat,Pochampally in Telengana) where threads were dyedbefore weaving. A luxurious silk,often with goldand silver zari work was called Banarasi as it hadits origin from Varanasi.
