The Work Balance Well-Being Inventory (WB) was developed as a multidimensional self-report instrument intended to assess well-being across multiple life domains. The present study reports an initial psychometric evaluation of the pilot version of the WB inventory. The analysis was based on a cleaned cross-sectional pilot dataset with a final analytic sample of 602 respondents. Item-level descriptive statistics and corrected item-total correlations were examined, followed by exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and criterion validity analysis. An external global well-being criterion was derived from four general life-evaluation items that were not part of the WB scale itself. The results provided preliminary support for a four-factor structure. Parallel analysis supported retention of four factors, which together explained 26.21% of the total variance. The first factor accounted for 10.54% of the variance, while the second, third, and fourth factors accounted for 5.79%, 4.97%, and 4.90%, respectively. Reliability analyses suggested that the WB total score showed acceptable to strong internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha of .71, McDonald’s omega total of .92, and omega hierarchical of .55. Criterion validity analysis showed a moderate positive association between the WB total score and the external global well-being criterion, r = .40, p < .001. Overall, the findings provide preliminary psychometric support for the WB inventory as a pilot multidimensional measure of well-being. At the same time, uneven item performance and the exploratory nature of the structural evidence indicate that further item refinement and more rigorous validation procedures are still needed before stronger claims about the instrument can be made.
